In Manage → Users, use the row menu to Make Admin (promote an Editor to Administrator) or Remove Admin (demote an Administrator back to Editor). For Editor users, open their Permissions screen to grant or revoke specific capabilities (create reminders, edit contacts, view settings, etc.). There is no single Role dropdown — promotions are via Make Admin, and Editor scope is shaped via Permissions.

Before you start

  • You need to be the Owner or a Privileged Administrator.
  • Understand the model before changing: Administrator access is binary (Make Admin / Remove Admin); Editor access is granular through individual permissions. See Users, Roles & Permissions.

Promote an Editor to Administrator

  1. Go to Manage → Users.
  2. On the user's row, open the menu.
  3. Choose Make Admin.

The user is now an Administrator (treated as Privileged Administrator). They gain admin-style access including Users management and My Subscription.

Demote an Administrator back to Editor

  1. Go to Manage → Users.
  2. On the user's row, open the menu.
  3. Choose Remove Admin.

The user returns to Editor (Limited Access). Their specific Editor permissions are whatever was previously set on their Permissions screen.

Adjust an Editor's permissions

  1. Go to Manage → Users.
  2. Open the user, then go to their Permissions screen.
  3. Toggle individual permissions on or off — for example:
    • Explorer / itemsexplorer_create, explorer_update, explorer_delete
    • Contactscontact_view, contact_create, contact_update, contact_delete
    • Settingssettings_view
    • And so on per area.
  4. Save.

Each permission is independent — you can give an Editor the ability to create reminders but not delete them, see contacts but not edit them, etc.

What happens next

  • Make Admin / Remove Admin changes take effect for that user's next action.
  • Permission changes take effect on the user's next interaction — they don't need to log out.
  • A demoted Administrator becoming an Editor keeps whatever permissions had been set previously; review them.

Edge cases & gotchas

  • No Owner toggle. You can't make someone the Owner through this screen — the Owner is the user who purchased the subscription. Account ownership transfer is not currently supported in the product.
  • Demoting yourself. If you're an Administrator and Remove Admin yourself, confirm there's at least one other Administrator (or the Owner) still on the account, or you'll lose admin access.
  • Editor scope isn't fixed. Two Editors can have very different capabilities depending on their Permissions configuration — there isn't one "Editor can do X" answer.
  • Some areas remain Owner/admin-only regardless of Editor permissions — for example, System Email Templates and Developers/API credentials.
  • Make Admin is binary. It doesn't take you through a settings screen — once promoted, the user has Privileged Administrator access.
